Planning to join this nature pre-conference workshop? Please note this session takes place offsite and includes walking, so we recommend comfortable shoes and allowing extra travel time. ICF will also organize transportation and will provide details closer to the event.
Coaching outdoors offers clients - and coaches - benefits beyond what is possible in a traditional setting. This immersive pre-conference workshop integrates coaching, mindfulness, and networking at one of DC's most iconic landmarks — the Washington National Cathedral. Reflect and observe at your own pace or follow along with gentle invitations to experiment with new ways of welcoming nature into your life and your coaching practice.
Scientific research confirms what our bodies already know: time in nature improves mental, physical, emotional, and psychological health. Pairing a walk in nature with individual or group coaching opens new pathways for growth by increasing blood flow, facilitating problem-solving and out-of-the-box thinking, and encouraging openness to new ideas. When bringing clients outdoors isn’t feasible, there are many ways to use natural elements indoors making the benefits of coaching with nature accessible to anyone.
Together we will stroll along paved/stone pathways through the Cathedral grounds and into the Bishop’s Garden and Olmsted Woods stopping along the way to engage with our surroundings. The event is suitable for everyone. The total walking distance is approximately 1.5 miles. No experience or special equipment is required. Sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes are recommended.
