Melissa Spence, MA, MBA, ACC is a leadership coach, facilitator, consultant, and founder of Adamah Coaching and Consulting with over two decades of experience developing leaders across nonprofit, higher education, government, and entrepreneurial sectors. Her work spans individual coaching, group facilitation, strategic planning, and organizational development — with a particular focus on women, early-career professionals, and mission-driven organizations.
Melissa has coached and developed leaders at every stage — from early-career professionals stepping into their first positions of authority to senior leaders navigating organizational change. She is known for questioning the assumptions clients have accepted as fact, seeing potential that individuals have not yet recognized in themselves, and creating the conditions for growth that is both lasting and self-directed.
As a practitioner of outdoor and nature-inspired coaching, Melissa works with individual and group clients in natural settings and integrates this approach into her facilitation of team-building workshops. She believes real development requires both presence and pace, and that nature creates the conditions for both.
Prior to launching Adamah Coaching and Consulting in 2022, Melissa held senior roles at the American Jewish Committee, Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, and the University of Denver's Holocaust Awareness Institute.
Melissa holds an MA in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an International Executive MBA from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. She is an ICF ACC Certified Coach, a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, and a Master Gardener through the University of Maryland Extension.
